Depression

Depression can feel like your life has literally been stolen from you.  It can cause persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or fatigue which can interfere with your daily life in many aspects (family, relationships, work, school, sleeping, eating).  Depression can halt your life in its tracks, keeping you from participating in activities you once loved to do and causing you to feel lost and empty.  If you are experiencing depression, you may be experiencing some of the following symptoms:

  • Sad, anxious, or empty feelings

  • Fatigue and decreased energy

  • Feelings of hopelessness and/or pessimism

  • Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, and/or helplessness

  • Irritability, restlessness

  • Loss of interest in activities once pleasurable, including sex

  • Overeating or appetite loss

  • Thoughts of self-harm or suicide, suicide attempts

  • Insomnia or hypersomnia (excessive sleeping)

  • Difficulty concentrating

Depression can often be triggered by transitions or major events in your life, both in the present and from the past.  Depression can also arise from past traumas that were never healed or processed.  You may also be genetically predisposed to depression if it runs in your family.  Regardless of how it came about, we want to help you feel better!

Through our approach to depression counseling, we can help you recognize and confront the issues that are influencing your depression.  Using a combination of evidence-based cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness techniques, we will discover the flawed beliefs that have been limiting your life.  We can then restructure those beliefs in order to change your negative emotions.

We invite you to call us at 833-HEAL-ATL or contact us if you have any questions, and we’ll get started.  We look forward to helping you reconnect to your life and find your joy!
