Nissa believes that therapy can be a space where people come home to themselves—where self-understanding and self-acceptance exist alongside meaningful, values-driven change. She takes an empathetic, collaborative, and person-centered approach, integrating practical tools, behavioral strategies, and real-life supports tailored to each individual’s goals, needs, and ways of thinking.
Nissa has a particular passion for supporting neurodivergent individuals, including those who are late-diagnosed or exploring identities related to autism and ADHD. She approaches this work from a neurodivergent-affirming lens, helping clients better understand their sensory experiences, executive functioning styles, masking, burnout, and identity development. Rather than focusing on “fixing” traits, Nissa works with clients to build sustainable systems, reduce shame, and create lives that align with who they actually are.
She also enjoys working with parents and caregivers seeking to better understand and support their neurodivergent children, including those who are highly sensitive or experience the world in intense, nuanced ways.Nissa supports clients navigating anxiety, depression, perfectionism, self-esteem concerns, and life transitions, offering a nonjudgmental and validating space that honors each person’s lived experience. She is LGBTQIA+ affirming and committed to creating an environment where clients feel safe, respected, and able to show up authentically.
With training in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, Nissa is especially attuned to the experiences of individuals with co-occurring disabilities and chronic health conditions. She draws from approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based practices, adapting them in flexible, neurodivergent-affirming ways to meet each client where they are.In Nissa’s spare time she enjoys taking her dog Poppy on walks, being on her family's alpaca farm, reading any kind of fantasy book, and being in nature. “The truth is: Belonging starts with self-acceptance. Your level of belonging, in fact, can never be greater than your level of self-acceptance, because believing that you're enough is what gives you the courage to be authentic, vulnerable and imperfect.”
