Kathy Barrett is a seasoned yoga teacher, educator, and certified sound healing facilitator who is passionate about helping others reconnect with themselves through mindful movement, breath, meditation, and somatic practices. As an E-RYT 1000 and RYT 500, she brings extensive training in yoga philosophy and specializes in trauma-informed yoga, creating welcoming spaces where students can explore healing, resilience, and self-awareness at their own pace.
In addition to teaching yoga, Kathy offers gong sound therapy, a restorative, low-frequency sound healing modality that promotes deep relaxation, nervous system regulation, psycho-emotional integration, and the release of physical and emotional tension. Her sessions invite participants to experience the body as a source of wisdom, healing, and clarity while cultivating greater balance, presence, and overall well-being.
Before dedicating her career to yoga and sound healing, Kathy spent years as a high school English teacher before transitioning into automotive corporate communications. These diverse professional experiences shaped her thoughtful approach to communication, education, and human connection. Today, they continue to inform the way she guides students and clients—helping them recognize patterns of stress, reconnect with their bodies, and develop practical tools for living with greater ease, regulation, and intention.
Kathy offers weekly group yoga classes and a monthly Sound Healing experience in Heal ATL's on-site wellness studio, The Space. Her classes are open to adults (18+) of all experience levels, from complete beginners to seasoned practitioners. Each session thoughtfully integrates breathwork (pranayama), mindful movement, restorative yoga, meditation, prop-supported practices, and somatic techniques designed to promote grounding, nervous system regulation, and greater mind-body awareness.
For many Heal ATL clients, incorporating yoga or sound healing alongside therapy provides an additional layer of support by deepening embodiment, fostering emotional integration, and creating opportunities for continued healing between sessions.
In addition to group offerings, Kathy also provides private yoga instruction and individual or small-group sound healing sessions. These sessions can be scheduled directly through Heal ATL and offer a personalized experience tailored to each individual's or group's goals and needs.
